Workplace Wellbeing

How well is your workforce?

• In the UK last year the Confederation of British Industry estimated work place absenteeism cost employers over £13.2 billion.

• Costs include sick pay, arranging overtime, temporary cover, lost management time, potential loss of client-customer service relationships and 'presenteeism' (reduced productivity while at work).

• The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) states that work related stress, depression or anxiety are the leading causes of working days lost.

• Stress leads to an estimated £12.8 million days a year lost due to with an estimated cost £8.4 billion a year (according to The Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health Survey 2008).

Looking at ways to physically improve the health and wellbeing of your staff, can increase their productivity and reduce absenteeism. Can you afford not to?

Well Necessities can offer your business a:

• Highly professional and committed service that supports you in finding the right well being solutions, for your workforce needs.

• Direct nutritional support for your staff on a group or one to one basis (including personalised reports for Food Intolerance Testing and Vitamin & Mineral Testing). • Bespoke education programmes on a range of topics such as nutrition and stress management, which are geared specifically to the needs of your staff.

• Training experiences that combine business management training models with well being principles to help your staff create a more harmonious life/work balance. • Practical, natural health solutions for staff to help them cope better with stress and illness and avoid long term ill health.

A Tasty Solution

I can offer your business a number of practical solutions to help your workforce become better educated about the food they eat, physiologically reducing the effects of stress on their bodies and improving overall health and wellbeing.

Workshops

I currently offer a selection of workshops that address some of the major concerns of businesses regarding the wellbeing of employees. All workshops include a delegate workbook/resource pack either in hard copy or CD Rom and can include a selection of appropriate natural products to enhance their wellbeing e.g. herbal teas, superfoods, natural beauty products etc. All workshops will have a prepared PowerPoint presentation to accompany them.

Workshops vary in length, ranging from one hour to a full day, and can be adapted to suit the needs of your staff. All workshops are highly interactive and cater for a variety of learning styles.

Workshops include:

• Your Path to Better Health – a half day workshop that combines personal profiling, goal setting and overall health advice for those struggling to maintain a healthy life/work balance. The course will examine current business models of motivation and assist staff in identifying areas of importance in their own lives including their own physical and emotional health. Using personal profiling techniques, staff will conduct their own gap analysis and work through current goal setting theory to create their “Path to Better Health”. Emphasis will be placed on elements of nutrition and physical activity to enhance their general wellbeing and improve work/life balance. This is an excellent stand alone course for all members of staff or can be particularly effective as part of a larger management training programme.

• Boost Your Immune System – a one to two hour workshop that examines how the immune system functions and natural ways to both protect from infection and deal with illness. Identifying which nutrients are essential to build and protect the immune system and how these can be incorporated into the daily diet. This also includes some natural remedies for everyday ailments that will support the body in recovering from illness. This is an important workshop for the winter months as flu, coughs and colds affect absenteeism. An excellent lunch time workshop for all members of staff.

• Treating Stress Naturally – a one to two hour workshop that provides a simple overview of the physiology of stress and how it affects the body. It looks at the short and long term health consequences of stress including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol ME, Chrinic Fatigue Syndrome and increased risk of heart disease and stroke. Self help ideas on foods, supplements and natural products that assist in changing body chemistry to prevent further damage from stress and rebalance the body. It looks at self help ways to reduce anxiety and avoid panic attacks. An essential workshop to help staff through periods of organisational change and financial hardship, which may result in increased stress and anxiety related absenteeism.

• Introduction to Holistic Nutrition – a half day workshop that provides a simple overview of how our body works and the role food plays in our health and wellbeing. A fully comprehensive look at the how the digestive system and our metabolism works and the basics on general nutrition. How to use foods, herbs, supplements and other natural products to improve general health and diet. This is an excellent workshop delivered as part of a Company Wellness initiative as it gives staff all the information they need to make the right choices for themselves. This can also be delivered as a full day workshop in combination with some of the other workshops listed above and below.

• Make your own ...... – a series of fun and very interactive one to two hour seminars where participants get to learn how to make their own Chocolate (Raw Chocolate), Healthy Superfood Snacks, Toxin Free Beauty Products and Natural Remedies. All the products are free of toxins and support mental and physical wellbeing. These short workshops are ideal for team building events or as part of a leadership training programme, where participants are using a modern and fun medium to learn about healthy living values.

If you have specific needs I can create a bespoke programme for your staff. All workshops can be adapted to suit time schedules and can run from a half an hour taster session to a half or full day programmes.

One to One Nutritional Consultation

I can offer staff personal nutritional support with their physical and emotional issues. This would include an initial consultation (including a complementary Food Intolerance and Vitamin & Mineral Deficiency Test) and a series of follow up consultations as appropriate to the individual. This approach allows the individual to follow a set of diet and lifestyle recommendations, specifically designed to deal with their presenting problems, which may be affecting their workplace performance.

I can also provide the organisation with open clinics which involves members of staff coming to me with current ailments and receiving advice on the spot. This can be done on an informal or appointment basis.

Costs

All costs are approximate and will depend on the nature of the material being delivered. Bespoke courses may incur an additional writing charge.

Workshop costs start at only £200 and can last from two hours to a whole day. All workshops can include time for an open clinic.

Testing Clinic – Staff can receive food intolerance tests and vitamin & mineral deficiency tests with a brief nutritional consultation. Chargeable at £50 per person (for 50mins) or £400 for the day (unlimited tests between 9am and 5pm).
