What is Holistic Nutrition
We are all aware that we should "eat healthily", and for many of us that means eating a standard western diet and trying to consume our "5 a day". However when our bodies cease to function in the way we need them too, we have to first look at what we are putting in our body to fuel it, and question whether we are eating the right things.
So many modern complaints are highly treatable with the proper nutrition, and indeed many of my clients felt they were destined to a lifetime of medication to control condition such as thyroid, fibromyalgia, autism, ADHD, arthritis, eczema, migraines etc. However by looking closely at what they are eating, and identifying how their body processed that food, we can often find the root cause of what is causing the inflamed state in the body and treat it with food and natural supplements alone. Indeed once this has happened many patients, with careful supervision have come off medication that they were told they would have to take for the rest of their life, including medications for high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure the list goes on. Holistic nutrition can also work alongside medication to help ease the symptoms of conditions, often reducing pain and helping the emotional well being of those suffering long term illnesses.
Holistic nutrition considers the whole person and how that person as an individual might need to amend their diet to regain health. Food can offer us an armoury of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that are essential for maintaining health.
