Introduction to Essential Oils Workshop 12th January 2018
If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Essential oils provide plants with protection against environmental threats and play a role in plant pollination. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health-care practices.
Oils such as Oregano can be used both topically and internally to combat fungal and parasite infections. Oils like Tea Tree are antibacterial and can be used to prevent infections and in homemade cleaning products. Lemon essential oils can be taken internally to support the cleansing of the Liver and oils like Lavender and Clary Sage can give you a good night's sleep. doTERRA oils are especially powerful as most of them are food grade, so can be safely taken internally unlike most other essential oils.
